[Character Name] Most commonly known as Manx, but has gone by Erika from time to time. Her birth name is Hanae Kitada, but she is almost never called by it.
[Canon] Weiss Kreuz

[Age] Never specified. Probably around thirty years old.
[Gender] Female.
[Sexual Orientation] Heterosexual.

[Eye Color] Blue
[Hair Color] Red
[Height] About 5"4' (162 cm) without heels.
[Other] Take one (1) Jessica Rabbit. Now put her in a business suit. That's Manx.
[Clothing] Manx is well-presented and businesslike, with the possible exception of her hemlines. She usually wears a red suit over a black high-necked top, gold earrings, white socks and high-heeled sandals. She does own casual clothes, but... well, put it this way: Manx knows she has nice legs, and sees no reason not to make the most of this.

[Background]
In the first half of the first series of Weiss Kreuz Manx works as Weiss's handler. She's the contact between the team and their boss, a man they know only as Persia and whose face they've only seen in shadow. She maintains a sense of professional distance to the team much of the time (for all that Youji at least clearly wishes she was friendlier) and usually only shows up in order to give them their missions, handle their briefings, and report back to Kritiker and Persia which of the team have accepted the assignments. Hers is a very hands-off role: once the briefing is concluded and the mission has been assigned, she largely leaves the team to it.

It becomes clear as time wears on that Manx is a lot closer to one member of the team - their leader, Omi - than she is to any of the others. Where she treats Youji and Ken with cool disdain and has no problems turning a gun on Aya when she believes he poses a threat to Persia, Omi she shows much more genuine warmth and consideration for. The reasons for her partiality are made clearer when it is revealed that Persia is Shuuichi Takatori, commisioner of police and Omi's own uncle.

Manx is at Persia's side throughout the events of the series, sticking by him even as his own position becomes increasingly perlious. Persia's brother, Reiji Takatori, is hotly tipped to become the next prime minister, but has risen to power through a series of increasingly dodgy dealings: Kritiker alone have the power to stop him in his tracks, but Shuuichi is initially reluctant to sanction a move against his own brother. When Takatori turns his sights on Weiss, labeling them terrorists, and reveals that he knows that Shuuichi is Persia and the man who has been sponsoring them, Kritiker finally make their move - but, though Manx is prepared to stand by Persia until the bitter end, Persia decides he cannot allow her to put herself in any more danger, and so knocks her out to stop her from insisting on following him to his death.

A more comprehensive summary of the series and Manx's role in it can be found here.

[Personality]
In a word? Professional, in absolutely all that would imply. To elaborate a little: cool, calm and collected. An intelligent, level-headed, breathtakingly competent and immaculately presented woman, Manx is every inch what you'd expect from a businessman's private secretary - and, the businessman in question being the Chief of Police, 'closed-mouthed' should be added to the list as well. Perhaps it's fortunate she was already so good at this, given that her boss also moonlights as the head of a covert agency formed to dispense vigilate justice, but for Manx the transition from private secretary to secret agent was one that presented her with no difficulties whatsoever.

Of course, it's not quite that simple.

First off, to get it out of the way: Manx is hot and she knows it. She shows no real sign of being offended or upset by the male attention she gets, but does nothing very much to encourage it, unless a penchant for very short skirts counts. It's entirely possible that she would be quite the accomplished flirt if she didn't consider herself spoken for, but for the most part hitting on her is an object lesson in frustration. Nine times out of ten, though quite content to let men flirt at her, Manx will do absolutely nothing to reciprocate; on the tenth the only real response is likely to be a teasing put-down.

Secondly, like any successful professional she knows when to let her guard down - or at least when to give the impression she's doing it. Though she's nothing but business once Kritiker's affairs or a mission enters the equation, she's perfectly capable of relating to Weiss (or appearing to do so) on a far friendlier level. She's confident and self-assured in her dealings with them, and though she does nothing to encourage any real intimacy developing between herself and her charges, she treats Weiss with a degree of friendly courtesy that would keep any casual observers from questioning exactly what she was doing there. Even then, though, Manx does not deal with them on an equal footing. She's very much the one in control of the situation and the team knows this just as clearly as she does. Even her apparent friendliness is, when it comes down to it, mandated by what's good for business.

Manx has precisely two weak spots: her boss, Shuuichi Takatori - commonly known as Persia - and Omi Tsukiyono. First up, Persia. Her loyalty to Persia is occasioned as much by her love for him as her belief in what he's trying to do. Manx knows damn well that her feelings are not reciprocated but this, to her, is merely a detail. She isn't discouraged by it, she doesn't even seem particularly upset by it - and, just as Persia continues to love Kikuno even after her death, so Manx will continue to love him.

Secondly (and rather more importantly from the view of series canon) there is Omi. Though Manx is perfectly capable of treating him in as cool and offhand a manner as she does everyone else, it's clear that this isn't really how she wants to treat him. Her regard for him is - for reasons that later become obvious - almost maternal and, when left to herself, she treats him with a degree of genuine kindness that is quite remarkable given how offhandedly she behaves toward almost everyone else. Though she's nothing if not restrained in front of the rest of the team, when she's alone with Omi she can be warm, open - even tender, if it seems that tenderness is what he needs from her. Compare this to her treatment of Ken, whose concerns she utterly blows off and whose upset over what he has to do is, to her, little more than an annoying waste of time, and Manx's tendency to mark Omi out for special treatment becomes absolutely undeniable.

For all her affection for Omi, though, loyalty to Persia and to Kritiker always comes first. The idea of betraying either the organization or Persia himself would be utterly unthinkable to her: though she's privy to a lot of Persia's secrets - including the truth about Omi's parentage - the only thing that canonically has her even attempting to reveal them to Omi is the certain knowledge that she's mortally wounded and Persia himself has been dead for over a year. Though she doesn't always seem very happy about having to do so, Manx is quite capable of lying even to someone she cares for as much as Omi if she thinks it's what Persia would want from her. She's not beyond manipulating Omi if she thinks it's what Persia would want or need - and Omi, remember, is the exception.

In a number of respects Manx is not a very nice person: she is, however, honest with herself about this, and to the men she works with. She doesn't feel the need to hide her darker streak behind feigned sweetness or a superficial layer of charm. She is what she is - icy cool, scrupulously professional, and often downright dangerous - and if anybody failed to take her word for it, more fool them.

[Specialties/Abilities]
If keeping your head while all about are losing theirs can be considered to be a special ability, then that's Manx's. She, as would be expected for a black-ops liason, is an exceptionally cool customer who's almost never anything less than calm and collected. Even when, say, entering a collapsing building to break up an eight-way scrap, she's nothing less than impeccably turned out and completely in control.

As a Kritiker agent, Manx has shown herself to be hightly accomplished at a number of things she clearly didn't learn at secretarial college. First and foremost, she's capable of handling a firearm. Manx is shown carrying a handgun in her purse, and is later shown to be a crack shot with it. Later canon also suggests that she has been trained in resisting interrogation, that she's acquainted with communicating with Weiss in codes - specifically related to hana kotoba, the Japanese language of flowers - and that she can, if needed, run infiltration missions and provide on-site backup to Kritiker's field teams.

Finally, she can run in heels.

[Affection]
Manx can be a bit of a flirt. Flirting is go, just be prepared to get shot down a lot. In fact, just about anything is go as long as it's consensual: sure, Manx is deeply in love with Persia, but she's only human.

[Fighting]
Manx's combat abilities are rather limited, but she's by no means a complete pushover and is usually armed when she's out and about. Fighting her is fine, though she generally prefers not to fight unless it's absolutely necessary and her usual tactic as regards combat appears to be to shoot first, get away second and ask questions later if at all.

[Other Permissions]
Though Manx is aware that telepaths exist, she doesn't have much in the way of defenses against them - she's basically just a normal human being in all that implies, and isn't going to be able to put up any real resistance against mental tampering..
